I think one of the best/easiest methods at the moment is turning customers/fans into brand advocates by really simple things such as the FB Like button. Instantly adds the potential for the viral effect to every single item in you store (if you wish). We have added it to one of our clients and are already seeing a hugely positive impact from something so simple.
