Social Commerce on TV: TV Social Shopping – Buy What You See With Friends

We’ve long thought that elephant in the social commerce corner was TV, and that next-generation TV will have social and commercial layers built-in. French Connection made an early attempt linking YouTube to stores with their ‘plinking’ (product linking) YouTique, but here’s a concept app (codenamed GOAB) from digital agency Syzygy that takes the idea a step further – turning your handset (tablet/mobile) into a socially and commercially-enabled TV remote (more here).

What do you think?  Could this kind of technology change the game for TV (social) shopping?

  • Social commerce on TV is transforming how we shop—imagine buying products featured in your favorite shows while watching with friends. Platforms like boppam TV already integrate discovery features such as live channels, curated movie categories, and cross-device syncing, which could easily evolve into interactive shopping experiences. With its HD streaming, multi-language support, and user-friendly interface, Bappam TV is well-positioned to pilot ‘buy-what-you-see’ functionality in the future
