digitalwellbeing.orgHow to thrive in our hyper-connected world

product.purchased: Facebook Purchased, Donate and Want Buttons coming soon.

Facebook has seen the future and its called commerce – not (only) advertising.

Facebook code detective and web developer Tom Waddington (who uncovered the yet-t0-be-released native Facebook “Want” button/action in Facebook code last week) has been at it again.

Tom has discovered a new ‘product.purchased’ action that will allow vendors to invite customers to share product purchases, including items in Facebook games, and intriguingly donations.

So it looks like we’ll purchase, want, donate buttons will be coming to website and Facebook Pages near you.

For Tom, it seems clear that Facebook are working on a new OpenGraph representation of products – and logically enough the code is part of a ‘socialcommerce’ library.

Check out Tom’s Facebook sleuthing on his blog.
