‘The Product Graph’ – Pickie Shows Pinterest, Stuff And Amazon The Way

Every entrepreneur’s favorite site – Springwise – the trendspotting resource for innovative new business ideas and models, has just posted about Pickie, a new online magazine that delivers personalized product catalogs for the user to browse for themselves, based on the items being discussed by their friends on social media sites.  The ambitious goal is to create a ‘product graph’ a kind of ‘Flipboard for shopping’.

The idea is not new – and most social shopping sites – use social recommendations to create personalised pick lists. Spingspotters mentions 15gifts and Vineloop as variations.  But packaging the result up in a personalised e-magazine is smart – it’s the sort of thing Pinterest, Amazon and even Stuff magazine should be doing. Smart.
